Our Story

How We Met

In the midst of a world turned upside down, our paths crossed in a most unconventional manner — a Pilates studio in St Peters. Repurposed as a startup meeting space for the day, it was Blair's first day at his new company, a place where Sandya had already laid roots as one of its earliest pioneers. Little did we know, this chance meeting amidst the chaos would be the beginning of our incredible journey together.
Our story is one of gradual steps. A slow and memorable burn with the cautious dance of two colleagues navigating the waters of a budding romance. From impromptu meet-ups to bringing our beloved Layla to the office on quiet weekends, every moment seemed to weave us closer. A particular Christmas party left us both wondering if sparks had flown... they hadn't, but it sparked something even more significant. Our early "dates" were marked by a conscious effort to separate our blossoming relationship from our professional ties, a challenge given our intertwined work lives.
One of our most memorable early chapters unfolded on a work trip to London. It was during this time that Blair met Sandya's British family (before her parents), albeit under less than ideal circumstances. We both managed to catch Covid. Despite the situation, it was a bonding experience, solidified further by the strategic placement of our hotel rooms courtesy of our friend, Pierre-Luigi. This trip marked the beginning of an eight-month-long effort to keep our work and personal life distinct, a testament to the depth of our connection.

The Proposal

Our commitment was sealed not just in words but in action, as we went ring shopping on the same day we signed the contract for our new home. Uninspired by the selection, we decided to design our own ring. Blair's proposal, though not entirely as planned, was uniquely ours — with Layla bearing the ring on her collar, cleverly captured on our dog camera. It was imperfect, unexpected, and absolutely perfect for us.

Our Wedding

Together we've found strength in our partnership, blending our professional acumen with a deep personal connection. Our love thrives on shared adventures, from getting muddy on outdoor escapades to the simple joy of walks with Layla, and cherishing time with family and friends.
Choosing Worrowing at Jervis Bay as our wedding venue was a nod to our love for the South Coast's raw, natural beauty and the countless memories we've created in this serene part of Australia. It's a place that feels like home, embodying the authenticity and warmth we wish to share with our loved ones as we embark on our next chapter.
As we blend our Australian, Greek, British, and South Indian cultures into our wedding day, we look forward to celebrating our love, heritage, and the union of our families in a ceremony that promises to be as unique and eclectic as our journey together.

Wedding Party

Bec Mawad

Bec and Sandya's story began in the hallways of primary school, blossoming into a friendship later during high school years, marked by shared discoveries and growing together.
Bec's creativity shines in the way she approaches life, with an unwavering honesty and a deep commitment to social causes that inspire those around her. After having learned the hard way, Bec and Sandya now navigate life's celebrations with (mostly) joyous sobriety, finding laughter and happiness in the moments they share.
As Sandya's confidante, Bec is the one she turns to for those long, robust conversations that span the full spectrum of topics. Their friendship is built on a depth of understanding only years of companionship can bring.

Nick Stock

Nick and Blair's journey began during their university days, where fate (and shared academic interests) led them to cross paths and take almost every class together from their first semester right up until graduation.
Nick is the ultimate connector, bridging the gap between two significant circles in Blair's life—his university friends and his colleagues from EY, where they both ventured post-uni.
Their bond, forged through countless lectures, study sessions, and eventually shared professional endeavors, has grown stronger over the years. As Blair's best man, Nick stands as a testament to the adventures they've shared and the countless memories they've created—from the comp lab to the corporate world.

Kanya Baratha Raj

Kanya and Sandya first met on Kanya's birth day. Her inquisitive nature and refusal to just listen mirror her approach to life—questioning, leading, and never settling for the status quo.
Preparing for a world championship, the pair spent every weekend driving from Canberra to Sydney for six months. They honed their skills and deepened their bond, united by a shared goal.
Kanya plays the sisterly role of baking cookies, repairing clothes and ensuring Sandya never steps out looking less than her best and taking charge when needed.

Anthony Wales

Anthony and Blair's camaraderie sparked over the complexities of discrete maths at uni, a bond further cemented by their taste for tech and their JB Hi-Fi days.
Anthony's ambition is as notable as his loyalty, always striving to leap forward in his career, often engaging in friendly rivalry with Blair.
Together they have traversed Europe and reveled in the electric atmosphere of many music festivals, celebrating their shared passions and creating memories that resonate with the rhythm of their friendship.

Lakshmi Gribble

Lakshmi is Sandya's older sister. Their childhood was filled with the simple joys of riding bikes along the driveway, constructing forts from curtains and couches, and creating a universe of their own with beanie babies and playmobil.
As the epitome of responsibility, Lakshmi always followed the rules which set the stage for Sandya to explore a world of gentle rebellion and independence. Her inherent strength lies in her incredible family values and her selfless nature.
Her wisdom extends beyond sisterly advice, offering solutions to Sandya's medical woes and serving as a bridge between tradition and the modern world.

Jacob Johnston

Jacob's journey with Blair began at uni through their mutual friend, Nick. Jacob helped spark Blair's passion for board games (now shared with Sandya), introducing a world of strategy and camaraderie that continues to be a cherished pastime.
With a knack for deconstructing and reconstructing, Jacob shines in his cyber talents, often challenging Blair's latest endeavors with his keen eye for security flaws. (Pls don't hack this website.)
He has always been Blair's steadfast supporter, always there to listen and offer guidance through thick and thin.
